Owen Teale - Actors Masterclass

Owen Teale is one of Britain's most well recognised and well respected actors. In a career spanning 25 years, he has performed on both stage and screen to great critical acclaim.
During two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, roles included Hotspur in Henry IV, Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar and Edmund in King Lear. He played the title role in Ivanov by Chekhov at the National Theatre and created the role of Richard in The Country by Martin Crimp at the Royal Court. In 1997 he won the Tony Award for Best Actor and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards, both for his performances in Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House. This is a selection of photographs that were taken for TheatreCraft 2008 at the London Coliseum in London in November. Some of photographs were then later used in 'The Stage' newspaper in January this year.
TheatreCraft is a skills fair which highlights all the career opportunities in theatre outside of performance. Run by Masterclass at The Theatre Royal Haymarket in association with Mousetrap Theatre Projects, Society of London Theatre, ENO Baylis and supported by The Stage, TheatreCraft 2008 at the London Colesium was a great success. It explored the many skills involved in staging a production through workshops, talks, demonstrations and displays from leading theatre practitioners and training providers. TheatreCraft is an annual event and new dates and times for TheatreCraft 2009 will be announced later this year.

Masterclass At The Haymarket Video Tapes

For anyone that missed the Masterclasses or was not even old enough at the time to watch the actors Masterclasses at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2000 to 2001 there is still a chance to purchase them for a minimum donation of £2 each while stocks last. There are two different tapes, one for 2000 the other for 2001. The 2000 tapes includes highlights of
including Alan Ayckbourn, Ruthie Henshall, Timothy West, Henry Goodman and more. The 2001 tape includes highlights of Maureen Lipman, Nigel Planer, Maria Friedman and more. Both tapes are 3 hours long each.

This is one of the photographs that was recently taken on Louisa Claire's headshot photo shoot. Louisa is currently studying drama at Thames Valley University in Ealing, London. She is studying for a BA (Hons) Drama: Acting for Stage and Media. Louisa wanted the photograph taken so she could use it for an up coming showcase in February at the university and for castings and auditions in the future.

Rebecca Lenkiewicz is probably best known for being the first living female playwright ever to have a play premiered on the main stage at the National Theatre. 'Her Naked Skin' was well received by audiences and critics alike.
In this event, Rebecca will talk about her process as a writer and give guidance on developing ideas for the stage. She will also take questions from the audience. An invaluable afternoon for any aspiring writer.

James McAvoy is probably best known for his film roles, such as Atonement, The Last King of Scotland, Wanted and the channel 4 television series Shameless.
In 2006, James was the recipient of the BAFTA Rising Star Award. He has also recieved a BAFTA Scotland award and has been nominated for an ALFS Award, a Golden Globe award, a European Film Award and two further BAFTA Awards.
James will soon appear in The Last Station co-starring Helen Mirren due for release in 2009. He is also working on a new film called Gnomeo and Juliet, a remake of Romeo and Juliet in animation form which is to be released in 2010. He is currently starring in Three Days of Rain at the Apollo Theatre, alongside Nigel Harman and Lyndsey Marshal.

Theatre Royal Haymarket Company Drama School September 2009 to June 2010

The Theatre Royal Haymarket Company are offering opportunities for children and young people to join our West End Drama School, held at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London. The school is aimed at those between the ages of 7 to 17. The school will be held every saturday throughout term time and will be run by the Head of Education and Learning as well as guest teachers including theatre directors and actors from the West End. In addition, there will be regular opportunities to perform on stage at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Entry to the school is open to everyone.
