The School For Scandal
04/May/2009 14:42 Filed in: Theatre Production Photography
These are some of the dress rehearsal photographs that were taken of The School for Scandal written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan early this year. Normally I would take photographs of the whole of the cast in full costume running through the entire production. Due do technical difficulties this was not possible. The heating system had broken down earlier in the morning so it meant everything was running behind. In the end I took some photographs of key scenes before the first run at lunch time. I decided to stay and watch the whole production on it's opening performance. This turned out to be well worth while as the play was excellent with a fine cast. Also I had an opportunity to spot other key scenes that I thought would make good photographs. After the play I asked the cast to run some of these scenes again so I could capture their performance. The finished photographs were then sent out to the press for use with reviews and other promotion. These have been used in a lot of online media. The play was put on by Red Handed Theatre Company and directed by Jessica Swale.

Photos Of David Morrissey Masterclass
04/May/2009 10:35
This is a selection of some of the photographs taken at an actors masterclass that David Morrissey gave at "Masterclass" at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London in February. David talked about his acting, which included a question and answer session. David talked in great detail about his method for developing the characters he plays in theatre, film and TV productions. He explained and showed how he keeps all his research notes in books (which can be seen in some of the photos) for each character he plays. This includes a brief history of the person. This then allows to refer back to his notes any time he needs to during the rehearsal stage for a play of during the filming of scenes.
David Morrissey has recently appeared in Neil LaBute’s In A Dark Dark House, directed by Michael Attenborough at the Almeida Theatre. His previous theatre credits include Three Days of Rain for the Donmar Warehouse, Much Ado About Nothing at the Queen’s Theatre as well as King John, Richard III and Edward IV all for the RSC and El Cid and Twelfth Night for Cheek by Jowl.
His extensive television credits include Peter Morgan’s The Deal in which he played Gordon Brown. Sense and Sensibility, State of Play, Cape Wrath, Ripley’s Gold, Blackpool, Out of Control, Linda Green and Our Mutual Friend. He also appeared in the Doctor Who Christmas special, The Next Doctor.
His film credits include The Waterhouse, The Other Boleyn Girl, Basic Instinct 2, Captain Correlli’s Mandolin, Hilary and Jackie, The One That Got Away and Being Human. With Mrs Mandela and Centurion in post production and Nowhere Boy in filming.

01/May/2009 10:09
As part of the Festival 10 series of events, Masterclass invites theatre artist Mischa Twitchin to join them for an afternoon of engaging discussion centred on the making of theatre, specifically experimental, site-specific and promenade performance.
Mischa is a founder member of the London-based performance collective Shunt. A key feature of Shunt’s artistic policy is to explore the live event and question the familiar boundaries between audience and performance. His current and upcoming projects at the Shunt Lounge include Klamm’s Dream - a ‘monologue for two voices’, Bruno Walter’s Last Concert and I wonder sometimes who I am, which will be shown in November at the Suspense Festival.
