Stuart Allen studied photography at Salisbury College of Art and Design. Since then he has worked in numerous spheres of the entertainment industry taking photographs. Shooting headshots of actors for almost a decade.
His work has also included theatre production and rehearsal photographs, publicity shots and poster images as well as album covers, photographs of singers, bands and concerts.
He has had work featured in various magazines including American Theatre, Irish Theatre Magazine, The Mail on Sundays Live Magazine, Kerang!, Time Out, The Dubliner and HiFi+. Numerous arts sections of national and regional newspapers and other publications including The Stage, The Irish Times and the book ‘Theatre History Explained’ by Neil Fraser.
Recent work has included photographs of the theatre productions 'The Early Bird' at the Finborough Theatre with Catherine Cusack and Alex Palmer, the national tour of 'Huck', 'Edmund' at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, 'Mad Kings and Englishmen: History Hung Drawn and Quartered' at the Bridewell Theatre, 'Gilgamesh' for the Norwegian theatre company, Aldateateret, 'The School For Scandal' at Bridewell Theatre, 'Cinderella' at The Shaw Theatre with Britt Ekland, 'The Meat Cooler' at The Lion and the Unicorn Theatre, 'Monsieur Venus' at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, 'Finding Alice' directed by Jessica Swale, 'La Mort' at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, 'Celia' at The New Players Theatre, 'Reality Chokes' directed by Chris Jury at Pentameters, 'The Blue/Orange' by 'ReStock Theatre' at The Wimbledon Theatre Studio, 'Son's Of Bond' directed by 'Paul Hart' at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, 'Two' by 'Dream Shed Theatre' at 'Upstairs at The Fountain'.
Photography of the blues guitarist and vocalist 'Larry Miller' for HiFi+, Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre and English National Opera workshops and ongoing photography for 'The Theatre Royal Haymarket - Masterclasses'. This has included photographing actors such as Ewan McGregor, Michael Sheen, Sir Anthony Sher, Joanna Lumley, Samantha Bond, Charles Dance, Alison Steadman and Dame Eileen Atkins. As well as this Stuart has taken numerous actors headshots for use in Spolight, Castnet and Casting Call Pro and photographs of the 'Theatre Royal Haymarket' for use in their programmes.
